Gossip Cop reported on Nov. 23 that PETA sponsored a rescued pig for Miley Cyrus as a 20th birthday present.
The entire idea came when Cyrus recently said she would love to adopt a pig. The former “Hannah Montana” star is a huge animal rights activist and PETA took the steps to help her achieve the goal, in an off-handed way.
“PETA knew that sponsoring a rescued pig was the perfect birthday present for a young woman who spends so much time encouraging others to help animals,” PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman said.
It is one of the rare opportunities that PETA is in the news celebrating a celebrity instead of tearing one down. Cyrus has always worked hard to help promote PETA’s mission statement and her own dad, former country star Billy Ray Cyrus, set up a donation page for charity, which PETA also publicized.
“From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place,” Reiman said.
Nora the pig lives at Kindred Spirits Sanctuary in Florida.
